partition problem

If a hard drive is partitioned into four equal sections with Partition Magic, how can it be "unpartitioned"? A relative of mine had her PC set up by a well meaning friend and he partitioned the HD into 4 drives.(one for OS, one for work, one for games, one for media) It seemed like a good idea at the time. Now the Cdrive is filling up and she can't seem to free up any space on it.

I would like suggestions on what to do, either to "unpartition" without destroying anything, or to free up some space on C (the OS drive)

It's a bit tricky, me being in Canada and her being in the UK, but I'll try and pass on any advice you can give.

    OS is XP home

    Thanks all

    Mr. Pewty!
    Good Evening, sir,
The Partition Magic product must be installed on the HDD in order to use it (I think, somebody correct me if I'm wrong).
So, if its still on HDD, the data can be backed up first, and then to use Partition Majic, THE tool for this job,
simply resize the C partition, taking data from the one that has the most space available to give.....

Should be fairly simple, IF PM is still on there, if not, there may be a shareware download, I'll look....
    :)

Thanks for the reply Robster12. Good evening to you.

I'll check tomorrow, but I think I can safely say PM is not on the hard drive any longer.

PM Doesn't need to be installed on the hard drive. It can be run from the bootable floppies in DOS and partition and format a blank drive

    Mr. Pewty,

    How are you sir?

This month's issue of Windows XP has a link for PartitionExpert 2003 SE, it says it is free, you have to fill out a registration form and the code is emailed to you. Here is the link http://www.acronis.com/mag/winxp-pe/

Maybe some of the other members are familiar with Acronis / PartitionExpert, but it does claim to resize and move partitions without any consequences for your data.

    Hope this helps. Steve
