I guess this would be more hardware related. I got a win 98 1st ed. on my system that i upgraded to xp and i have a primary fat 32 drive, with a second drive that is ntfs based ( this last one i switched to ntfs after having it as fat 32 originally). So, I am wondering if I would have any system integrity having these two drives with different types of partitions or if I should switch the primary where all my software is installed. Second, I need to upgrade to sp2 (don't ask why I haven't done it yet) and wonder if I should switch the fat 32 or leave it alone, and which would be more advantageous. REcall I upgraded originally from a win 98 1st ed. to xp sp1 now.

XP can read and write to both NTFS and FAT32. You could leave the drives as they are. I do think there are many benefits to using NTFS, and if it were me I would convert the FAT32 partition to NTFS. I would install sp2 first, then convert the drive. Backup all your data before you install sp2. If you ever intend to reinstall win 98 you will need a FAT partition. Win98 cannot read NTFS.
