I am trying to do a dual boot on windows with either android ( what i actually want) or linux.

this is for a Windows TABLET , not a desktop/laptop.

I have an insignia 8'' tablet that came with windows and i was trying gparted in a live iso before it launched to windows but it seems to be having trouble reading the iso. To be honest this tablet has alot of trouble installing pretty much any operating system or loading one that is not efi.

I have been able to boot an android image, but i have yet to been able to boot a linux operating system from the tablet since its VERY picky.

I figure maybe i would use a partitioning tool in windows , i was going to do it manually through the disk management option but it keep giving me a warning about further decreasing more than what was recommended.

Well i just screwed my tablet up

I tried the software and i went to do somethign else when i came back i selected some options and i must have misread something.

Now i get a boot screen with saying ''install android'' but the windows 8 is completely broken now i cannot access it. I would like to start from the start i just don't know where to get the windows installation for my tablet

I hate the bios in the bloody tablet i wish it was more simple to mess with.

So far these are my current problems:
I cannot seem to access my bios
Windows 8 is completely broken now
android was not successfully installed and file is broken too

Windows 8 is probably still in the hard drive or at the very least maybe even the recovery partition

However i can't access bios, i think the windows bootloader was probably corrupted by grub.

Even if that is the case and windows 8 is no longer available i can't seem to find windows 8 ''with bing'' iso which is what this tablet came with.

Normally i would access bios through windows 8 in the tablet when i restarted it, however since windows 8 is corrupted i can't do that anymore. Its different accessing bios in a windows tablet than a pc because i can't press f12 esc etc.. to access it

There was a post by ''mdonah'' that seems to have dissapeared along with another post of mine with the new site look.
Well i now managed to boot a windows 8 ''recovery'' usb drive however i haven't been able to fix my bootloader. If anyone can assist i would gladly appreciate it. I had a similar issue like this but in windows 7 when i deleted linux however i used the MBR solution in the cmd live usb and i can't do this on windows 8 because its not the same for EFI
I did this method but nothing changed:
    CMD
    type in diskpart
    select disk 0
    list vol
I select the volume with the fat 32 efi ( 100 mb) partition
    I assign a letter ( i picked B in this case)
    exit
    I then type
    cd /d b:\EFI\\Boot\
    I select bootrec /fixboot
I get a message that task has successfully completed
    I then type
    bcdboot c:\Windows /l en-us /s b: /f ALL
I see A big list displaying all the settings noted and i exit out and reboot
Tablet still boots to broken android grub...

    Any help please?

I tried the bootrec/rebuildbcd command and it finds windows and then asks if i want to add installation to boot disk i select yes, but then i get an error saying '' enough enough space on disk''.

Should i delete the efi 100 mb partition i see in the vol list in the command prompt? i don't want to make this worse. However this has been taking more of my time then i would want to so i if it can't be easily solved its probably best i return the tablet and let the store deal with this.

I called microsoft for this issue about 6 times already and every time i get someone in ''technical service'' that appears to be only working there for 2 months or less. What is more amusing is that half of them didn't even know what a bootloader was...

I could just reinstall and i don't care too much about the files i would lose HOWEVER this tablet has drivers that came pre installed that are not available from the manufcaturer or even microsoft the only way to get them is to send the manufacturer the tablet back which they won't do for free of charge it will cost as much as the tablet is worth which would be a waste of time and money.

I would be very grateful if someone can assist

Sorry, I can't help with your immediate situation.

I have had good luck using the Aomei family of disk utilities.

    http://www.aomeitech.com/

I have used their Backupper and Partition Assistant with success. Very user friendly.

    Good luck.

    thanks for the suggestion

However that partition software for my tablet is now moot

I cannot access windows, i cannot fix my bootloader, i cannot install android , i cannot seem to find a linux operating system that would boot and even if i do find one i am unsure if it would even install.

At this stage my tablet is just basically unusable, i would like to fix the bootloader so i can get windows 8 working again. I see the partitions and even a system image of my windows 8 operating system, if i could pull that image and copy it to sd card or usb drive i could make a bottable image out of it and reinstall the operating system how it came when i got the system.

Unfortunately i tried many methods and most bootable cloning software or basically anything won't boot in this tablet. Darn.. this seems a little hopeless i think i will just return the tablet to the store and let them deal with this and ill just get a different tablet

    update-

For whoever may be having a similar issue there is an iso from a UK website that i managed to download that specifically has windows 8.1 with bing.
I don't think we are allowed to link those here, but this is a real hassle to find Microsoft nor the manufacturer will provide either.

I successfully instead the iso and my tablet is now back again with windows 8 , however nothing regarding drivers works the manufacturer does not have them so my wifi, bluetooth, sound, touch screen battery indicator does not work.

Someone made a back up of their drivers and posted them on the internet which i downloaded however i don't know where do you all those folders i dropped them to the windows folder but my sound and everything else still doesn't work.

I think i can now pull my img recovery partition but i need to find a software to detect it so i can launch it because i can't access the disk management option and that disk img partition is hidden to my OS.
