:wave Oh, great....I really did not intend to be back here so soon...I am really glad you are here.

Please help me restore function to Win7x64. I feel like I shot myself. Help stop the bleed!

I was looking at a Gigabyte MoBo Utility disc examining (not updating) my BIOS and other drivers. Installed a Gigabyte BIOS update utility "@BIOS" and only LOOKED at it, then closed it. Updated nothing.

Clicked something on my Gigabyte Utility DVD that appeared to activate "Xpress Recovery 2". There were two buttons, "Restore" and "Reboot". Not wanting to have anything to do with it, I attempted to eject the disc. Things were frozen. Somehow I got out. (The Reboot? Or, maybe just taking out the disk).

    This might have clues: http://www.gigabyte.com/webpage/21/Xpress-Recovery2.html

Then I could not boot. Safe mode not working. Nothing.
Eventually I ran the Win7x64 Upgrade/Install (recovery) DVD and am looking at System Recovery Options.

Everything online says "select your OS..." It would be nice if My OS was listed, but it it not. Box says "load drivers" if OS is not loaded. OK, next screen says insert installation media. Upgrade disc is still in, Next, "Open" dialog box offers Libraries, System, Computer, Control Panel and Recycle Bin.

I have no clue what to select, nor what file(s) to look for.

I tried the other option of "Use recovery tools" for a fix. Ran Startup repair 4 or 5 times. Looked at what was tested/repaired:

    Root Cause Found:
    -------------------------
Partition Table is corrupt on disk \Device\Harddisk0
    Repair action: Partition Table Repair
Result: Completed successfully. Error code = 0x0
    ---------------------

Poking around the options above, I clicked on the Computer icon, then on "C:" and was presented with the requirement to format it first. No thanks. Most of the other drives are listed with sizes. C shows no size...

Opened the available command prompt. DOS command "C:" reports 'the vol does not contain a recognized file system. ....please make sure the drivers are loaded...and that vol is not corrupted.

DOS command "D:" goes to the D:\ drive. "dir" scrolls the contents ending with "Windows Image Backup" made 6/21/2014. I hope we can just fix the Partition Table.

Now I get "DISC BOOT FAILURE, INSERT SYSTEM DISC..."

    Please. Help.

    :cryDrCarl:cry

PS - I'll check back here for you in about 30 seconds, or a half a minute...whichever I am patient enough to endure

Found a program to recover lost partitions. Petition Wizard. Ran recovery feature. Found 100 MB "System Reserved" on what was my "C" drive and set it as Active. Named the 0 disc while I was there. Restarted. Failed. Inserted Win7 system/boot disc. New message. Wanted to do the repair for me. I said OK. It did. restarted. Failed. Decided to do something else. Killed power (power button). Restarted. Post screen went by FAST. Then a nice thing happened. "Starting Windows." And, some music. And some User Icons. It works! Shut down and restarted to be sure. We're good.

There goes one day I'll never get back again.

Maybe I'll try to start Safe Mode again.

Maybe I'll just have a drink instead.

(I still think that my BIOS need updating. What is WRONG with me?)

The corrupt partition table was really your computer's way of saying "It's time to implement your system imaging strategy!" ;)
