I am hoping that someone can shed some light on my ??strange partition and offer me some advise.
I have a Pentium 4 computer which came preinstalled with Windows XP Home Edition build 2600 with SP2. 193 usable HD capacity , 2 MB installed memory .
    c: NTFS ON DRIVE 0
    USB devices (HD)
    cf Reader = drive 2
    MS Reader = drive 1
    SD/mmc Reader = drive 4
    SM/xD Reader = drive 3
    ST 3200822AS (HARD DRIVE) 200.05 GP = DRIVE 0 .!!!!!
this is my installed external floppy
Today I tried to back up my Hard drive and it told me that the partition failed to back up.
My concern is Drive 0. I have no drive 0 that I can see C:/ shows up as my Local disk DVD-RW Drive =D. Memory stick =F. Sm/xD =H, dvd Drive =E,
    Compact Flash =F, sd/MMC =I
Under disk management I see 2 partitions:
Partition 1: under "volume" I see NO letter . It is EISA configuration, Capacity = 6.01 GB with 1.01 GB free space. File system is NTFS. status=healthy
    Partition 2: Volume=(C) File system=NTFS, Status=Healthy (System), capacity= 180.30 GB.
I have tried to give as much information as possible. My question is (after all this--sorry)
    a)is Drive 0 a normal drive
    b) is there is reason that the floppy appears to be installed on the hard drive when I plug it in using an USB port.
    c) why will my partiton not back up--could there be another reason?
    Sorry for three questions
I would appreciate someone giving me an answer.
    Many thanks for your time

Partition 1 (the 6.01 GB) on drive 0 is the hidden recovery partition that a lot of manufacturers use, rather than supplying you with a restore and recovery CD/DVD. Partition 2 (the 180.30GB) on drive 0 is your installation of Windows.
    a) Drive 0 is the hd installed in your computer that has been partitioned into two parts: one hidden from your view and the active bootable part where the windows installation is on.
    b) Why do you think the floppy is installed on the hd?
It can't be a floppy drive - look at the size 200.05 GP probably means GB
    c) What are you using to backup the partition? What partition are you attempting to backup 1 or 2?

If you go to the manufacturer's website, and check for documents, you will probably find information on creating a CD/DVD of the hidden restore/recovery partion (partition 1 on drive 0).
