partitioning

    I want to partition a harddrive. Can anyone help ?

    Reason? I'm not side stepping here, just want to understand why you want to do it.

    I was told that it was a more effective way of formating or removing information.
    any truth to this??

    I always partition, main reason being that if XP blows up for whatever reason, all my data on the other partitons is safe and sound. I haven't lost a byte yet in over 4 years of mucking about.

    EDIT: I also install all the programs I can on another partition and never keep any documents pictures etc where XP wants them.
