Partitions Messed Up On Mac External Hard Drive

Hi,
I bought an external hard drive for Mac but I wanted to use in on my Windows 10 64 PC.

I was told it was easy to partition the drive to use on Windows and because it was £5 cheaper I thought it would be a good idea.

When it arrived it was set up for Mac. It had an EFI partition and a large partition.

I followed these instructions:
Go to Windows > Type cmd and press Enter

Type diskpart in the command prompt window and press Enter

Type list disk in the diskpart window and press Enter

Find your disk with the disk number that you have seen initially

Type select disk <disk number> and press Enter

Type Clean and press Enter

When I tried to add a windows efi partition however it said it couldn't because it wasn't formatted as GPT.

I downloaded AOMEI disk partition.



I deleted all partitions which left an unallocated partition of 3.64TB. When I click create partition however it can only create a partition size of 2.ooTB.

At the moment I am using my laptop which is Windows 8.1 pro 64 as I am at work.

Why is it only showing 2.00TB instead of the 3.64TB please?

Seems like you are trying to initialise the whole drive as MBR (not GPT) which only works for partition sizes of 2.2Tb or less.

Have never used AOMEI so cannot comment. Tried using GParted instead?

 

Thank you Risk Reversal. I think it is fixed now. I converted it to GPT and it created a partition of 3.64tb.
