password emails

I am having difficulties with a few websites, but not all, and I'm not technologically inclined, so I don't have a clue what the issue is. I cannot receive password emails, either as a new account or for a lost password replacement, and my provider swears they aren't blocking anyone. these are mostly fee based genealogical websites where I absolutely have to have a password. no amount of emails to the websites make for any resolution, so what am I to do? they don't respond to my queries at all, nor do I ever get a password from them. I don't have an automatic spam file, and have thoroughly checked all of my email boxes-inbox, trash, junk, recovered, etc. to no avail. it's not in any of them. I've no idea why they don't get through. my provider says they never get them.

 

Do you use Outlook as your email client?
What is your anti-virus application?

 

I'm using Webmail 7 with no other email issues-all other emails, communication threads, most account acceptance emails, (but not those from companies I can't get password emails from, which include Findmypast and apparently HistoryBookCorner), private emails, and, unfortunately, spam and scams, Vista OS, AVG full security package. I use Chrome for most surfing but Safari for Windows for one website that doesn't support Chrome. oh, and Spybot and DoNotTrack, also. and the standard stuff, which sometimes causes issues, Java, Acrobat, WINDOWS....etc.

 

OK. It's looking more likely that it is getting blocked on your machine.

Have you tried accessing your email from another machine or smartphone? I see where some AVG full security packages include anti-spam filtering capability. Have you checked there?

 

no, I haven't tried accessing it from another computer. since all my other mail comes in w/o a problem it didn't occur to me to...hm. AVG's reluctant to open...got a window but it's just shut down...let me try again...whoa, it just vanished. icon and all. well. guess i'll have to coldboot...no idea why it did that...yep, I've got a problem...can't find it in programs. i'll get back to you.
