Hello again guys and gals. Long time viewer, but infrequent poster.

I just picked up a used laptop and it is password protected. By this I mean, I can't get to the Windows screen. Possibly a bios password?

What do I need to do to get around that?

There are tons of recovery discs that you see on Ebay. Are they really the answer, or is there something that I can accomplish myself?confused

If you purchased a laptop the owner would have given you the password, if he did not know it, then it's stolen. Report it to the police if so.

I'm sorry, I failed to mention that I purchased it on Ebay! I've bought a few there and this is the 1st that I ran into with this particular problem.

Contact the seller for the password or for info on how to reset the password. If they can't help you with the password, ask for a refund and send the PC back. If they won't do that, file a complaint with EBay and PayPal and file the experience under 'Why I don't buy laptops on EBay' ;)
