Password managers

I was wondering if password managers are really worth it? My main concerns are
    a) trusting a third party software with all your passwords
    b) binding all of your accounts to one masterpassword, that has to be comprehensive enough to be memorized by you (ie not randomly generated)

Why are 3rd party managers better than the browser built-in functionality for master password?

And after all, passwords are all about using the cloud from anywhere you go. Which password managers are portable? Either on a USB stick or via online login.

I've been forced to ask myself the same questions recently. I've long used an encrypted file on a flash drive using Cryptainer, but Cryptainer fails to run properly on my new system, possibly due to it having an SSD, so I've been forced to start using a third party password manager. I chose LastPass, which seems to work OK for me but leaves me uneasy at the thought that all my passwords are just one successful attack away on their server from being public knowledge. This unease was heightened this morning when I received an email from LastPass extolling the benefits of 'Multifactor Authentication' - a fancy term for having TWO LastPass master passwords rolleyes

I think I'm still looking for another way around this problem.

Try Dashlane 2.0 . It has automatic form field capture, security breach alerts, secure sharing of login credentials, and a new browser extension for Firefox, Chrome, and Internet Explorer.

you know guys, I couldn't help but swing myself into this topic.. With all the latest password crap going on. Many sites are asking you to change your passwords the two latest I seen was eBay and paypal... I also have thought about checking out LastPass

I also thought bout checking out Avast EasyPass:

But more and more i'm starting to think that a password manager might find it's way onto my computers plus the computers of the in-laws ... But I want to make sure the program I choose is safe and easy to use, it doesn't bother me if I have to pay for it. As long as things aren't too expensive.

Resurrecting an old topic due to the Sony information breach.

I use a G510 macro keyboard, 18 possible macros X 3 profiles gives me 54 macros, each of which has 5 random keystrokes. I only use this for very secure situations, but my password becomes M1 G7 M3 G18 which I put on my phone under notes in case I forget. I do have to take my keyboard with me in some situations.
This seems secure to me, any comments?
