password problem.

My friends wife thought it might be a good thing to password the family laptop.

Next morning, surprise. Password that she thought she had put on didn't work.Would not even get to the Welcome screen.
Brought it to me.
Cannot access the BIOS. Cannot get to Safe Mode.
Tried clearing the CMOS.
Will not boot from a disk. Tried Linux, Trinity Recovery and a couple of others with no success.
I have run out of ideas and patience.
Anything I may have overlooked?

 

A lot of Toshiba's needs to have a couple of pins on the motherboard shorted in order to clear the password. If you put in a wrong password three times, does it throw an error code? What is the model number of the Toshiba?

 

Model number unknown at this time. Has already been returned to her.
3 times wrong = power-down.
Upon reboot, repeat the entire procedure.

 

Yep, it would help to know the model number. Some of the toshiba's have a couple of soldier points under the ram chips that needs to be shorted.

 

Also, not knowing what she did, it could even be a hard drive password.
That would really suck.
Looked for jumpers while I had it. None that I recognized.
Didn't know about the solder points.

 

Check this video. Yea, if it was the password for the hard drive that would be tough. I have heard that some companies have a backdoor password if you can show proof of purchase.
