Password Protection Win 2000 pro

Hi


Im wondering if there is a (preferably free) utility available for windows 2000 pro? I would like to protect my email (Thunderbird), MSWord files and browser favorites (FireFox)

OR

If these programs already come with reasonable protection how do I acivate?

That may not have been very clear

What I mean is, I want to limit access to my files for another user
Making myself the administrator.... but I'm not that savy and dont want to lock myself out in the process
