Path to My Documents lost

My computer has a mind of it's own. I don't know how it happened - downloading an update, maybe? The path to a user's My Documents has changed. The main My Documents folder is the same. When I click on the user's My Docs, it brings up a reshuffled main My Docs. The user's My Docs is under Documents and Settings/local service/user's name. But when I go to my C drive and click on Documents and Settings, there is no "local service" listed. The computer created a My Recent Documents folder that wasn't there before that contains shortcuts to many files, some of which are the user's My Docs files. The computer also created a couple of "Remote Desktop Connection" icons that were not there before. How do I get the folders and files in the user's My Docs to show up where they were before?!
