Paypal help

Ok so, for some reason I'm unable to log into my paypal every time I tried i always got an error saying "your last transaction could not completed if you were making a purchase go to your email and confirm the email"(if you can provide a solution that will be great) however I was never making a purchase and it was stuck like that on permanent end. I called paypal no solutions,google again nothing(though it seems I'm not the only one with the problem). So for the hell of it I decided it to link the paypal(which had 100$) to my xbl account and to my surprise it worked. Up until today it would get my money with no problem however when it tried to renew my xbox gold I got an email back saying the email the transition was unable to go through. However I'm 100% sure the account has at least 30~40 dollars left and I'm asking you guys if there's a possible way to check your paypal balance without logging into the paypal itself. I tried calling no sell. I completely forgot the bank account to the paypal itself (my friend did something so he the paypal can be verified)
