Recently learning that my mobo supports up to PC-3200. Which should I get a 2X256 of Pc-2700 which will add a gig or 2X256 PC-3200of 512 (which will run in dual channel ram)?

    what processor are you running?

if you have a pentium 4, its nicer to have faster RAM.

if you have an Athlon running a 266 or 333 FSB, the pc2700 is fine... though if you upgrade you will want faster RAM.

if you have an Athlon with a 400mhz FSB you will also benefit from the faster RAM.

Yeah, I would agree that you could probably get a more solid recomdation based on what kind of processor your runnin. Also, InYearsToCome, very nice avatar. ^_^

Since it's a P4, your motherboard probably has 4 slots, so get the 512 and upgrade to 1 Gig later if you feel you need it.

scratch that question up top. Which of the 512 PC-3200 or 1024 PC-2700 would give my computer a better performance?

Depends on the applications you run. 512 will give you excellent performance under WinXP for everything except: Everquest, Battlefield 1942, Neverwinter Nights, Farcry (probably), etc. Essentially, recent graphics-intensive games.

Yeah I think I'll go get the gig cause I mostly just play PC games.

Eh? 512 is plenty for playing any of the games out today... And since you aren't running on an nForce board with 3 slots, again I suggest it would be better to get 2 sticks of 256 and upgrade later since you have the expandability.
