PC Blue Screen of Death

Hello M'Geeks -

Have a PC that goes to blue screen when starting Win XP. Info on screen says "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL".

This PC has two HD's that are using a RAID Mirror (Not real familiar w/RAID Drive). Ran a diagnostic on HD...returned a Fail, Error Code: 7

There is a mirror. If I go into the HD RAID Utility, it shows both drives. If I RESET Disks to Non-RAID, will this break the mirror and allow me to boot from optional drive? OR am I heading in the wrong direction and should move anew?

I've run that program before (which was created by microsoft) and it told me the exact driver that was causing the Blue Screen so that I could uninstall the program and get something else (unless it's a driver that's not a part of a program).The only thing to note is that this won't work if your computer didn't do a memory dump. Hope that helps .

 

Thx Twist' - I disabled the offending HD for now and set the RAID mirrored HD to be the boot disk. PC is up and running on "Backup" Drive. All appears well. Makes me question the hardware(HD) itself. Would you bother to attempt to reformat and use as a mirror or move to a new HD?

Sorry, I'm not experienced enough to know the answer to that, someone else needs to help you with that. You did follow through that walkthrough correct? (just making sure ). If you didn't then it might not even be the hard drive. Sorry I couldn't be of anymore help .
