PC boot up problem

Hi there

I have recently built a new HTPC. I installed the OS on a 64Gb SSD as i wanted the OS and program boot ups to be as fast as possible. It was working perfectly when first built but for some reason when i boot up now (4 weeks later) it hangs for about 60 seconds on a black screen. I can see my curser and it moves about. but i cant do anything else. Once the Desktop does eventually load everything seems fine.

I have gone in to MSCONFIG and done a diagnostic startup to see if possibly some program was at fault but i still get the same black screen hanging for around a minute.

Any help or advise would be appreciated. Thanks.

Intel I5 760 PCU
4Gb ram
Windows 7 64 OS

 

* Insert the Windows DVD, reboot and use the repair option. If this solved the problem it was likely a corrupted files issue. If not...

* Hook up a spare internal SATA drive and load Windows on it (do not enter the license code yet). If it fixes the problem you likely have a defective solid state drive and will have to return it to either the store or mfr. for warranty replacement.

You have 30 days to (re)activate Windows with the license code before it stops working. On a reinstall, Microsoft usually requires you call an agent far, far away who will grill you as to why you're reusing the same code. Be sure to explain you've replaced a defective hard drive and this copy of Windows is only installed on one (the original) PC. If you are only using the spare drive until you get the SSD replaced, skip the reactivation until you get the replacement.
