    Hi,

ok have pc with Asus MOB D33005 with a Mator ATA Model-6L100mo 100GB SATA 150 HDD. Which is running Win xp. Can't tell if home or Pro version. Anyway It boots up checks everything starts to load win xp kinda flickers and goes back to the beginning. Screen where you see America Maggatrends. And I have the options to load safe, etc..Tried them all and keeps going back to the beginning. I think its the bootloader.ini that is the problem. What do you think?

    Thanks in advance,

    Hi,

It is not the boot.ini file. If it were you wouldn't even get the Windows splash screen. If you google XP boot loop you will find a zillion hits but I have never seen a clear resolution to the problem. Do you have an XP installation disc available? This non destructive rebuild is the most likely for success from what I have read.

Edit: You say it blue screens. From the list of Safe Mode options, you can try Disable Restart on Error to see if it will let you read the blue screen.

Ok, I want to if I can repair windows. But because you know Win Xp does not see a SATA HD. I have searched the net to find out how. But it is not clear to me. Could you tell me step by step on how to do this. If I have no choice to install its ok backed up and from what I was told( not my pc) has 2 partitions one with Windows. Just need to get to that set where I can install it on that partition. Oh I got the files to back up using Linux well kubuntu. Let me know. Yes I have the XP cd. Legit. So no worries. :-D

    Hi,
D33005 is not your actual motherboard model. The model number is usually located near the graphics card slot. Or you could use SIW or similar program to get the model number.

With the correct mobo model number we could get the SATA drivers and slipstream them into a new XP disc. Or if you have a floppy drive you could load them when the XP disc asks for them.

The other option would be to change the SATA configuration in BIOS. With the correct mobo model number I might be able to find where to change the setting. Or you can look in BIOS for SATA configuration. You want to change it from ACHI to IDE. That should allow the XP CD to see the hard drive.
