PC Build Help

Hey guys im fairly new here and i was wondering if you could help me with building a new pc.
Here are the spec's for my current pc. I want to know what all i can use from my old one to the one im going to build.

2Hard drives Maxtor200g, WDC80g
Graphics Nvidia GeForce 6800 GT
DVD/CDROM DVDRW IDE 16x2
Monitor Samsung syncmaster (replacing due to it sucks)
Processor AMD Athlon 1.24ghz
RAM 1gRAM (i think its ddr)
MOBO K7N2 Delta L

As of right now i can play games like HL2 no problem games like Quake 4 and Gothic 3 i have to either turn to real low settings or it just chugs along.
Im thinking that What i really need is a new processor but in turn i have to get a new mobo cause i dont think mine can support the newer types. That as well as i cant find any processors for this mobo.

I really want a processor thats faster that 2.0ghz I cant seem to find any on any of the websites im checking. Im sure that as soon as i buy a 2.0 ill need something alot higher than that. I think the only way to get higher processor speed is to get an intel chip

If you know of any place better to find processors let me know please.

For mobos since im most likely switching to Intel processors i need one that will support intel cpus. I also need to make sure that i can use my ram and my graphics card. or else im screwed. I want to be able to play crysis when it comes out with this new setup lol.

Id just upgrade the CPU, everything else looks fine unless u wanna build a whole new system. Do u know what socket it is? maybe socket A, possibly 939 if u build it not too long ago. do u know the model? ie) xp2300+

 

are you asking what the processor is its a amd athlon xp 2600

 

do u know what socket it is? check your mobo manual or online specs to see the max processor for that motherboard and get it. It should be really cheap now

 

Its a socket a processor they dont make them anymore wich means its really hard to find one lol. but it would be cheap shit

 

You should also check to see if you have latest BIOS for the MOBO. A newer BIOS may let you run a faster CPU.

 

This board will support up to 3gb of RAM so you can add more ram also.

the best ive seen is a 3200 but maybe there are better ones

 

Unless I misunderstood, you're running an Athlon2600, but you said in the first post that the CPU is at 1.24 ghz... check your FSB and multiplier settings. The Athlon 2600 should be running at 1.8ghz (13.5 x 166mhz)... It's also a good chip for overclocking.. see this link:
