PC Cannot Install Window 2000 or XP

Greetings. I need help. I uninstall Window 2000 in my Pentium 3 destop in other to install Window Xp. But my pc could not copy some of the files like dll during installation. The cd-rom and hard disk are okey.I try them in another pc, it was able to install the XP.I am now stalk as i cannot even install window 2000 back. Someone should pls tell me how to make my pc copy all the files during Xp installation. Thanks, uselu

I have moved your thread to software as this would seem to be the area in which you are having problems.

You will have to be a little more informative.....such as why you want to reinstall w2k if you have successfully installed xp.

Sometimes a disc will be dirty or scratched and you just need to clean it, or choose try again when it gives the notice that a file did not copy.

Thanks,Timw. i only install Window XP in the Hard disk in another pc to test whether the disk, cd & cd-rom are okey. This comfirmed that they are okey. But in my p3 system, some files will be skipped during the installation of Window Xp. I have tried 3 Xp cd, and another cd-rom, but it still cannot copy some files. Thanks, uselu

You may need to check that hard drive to be sure it is not damaged.

Hmm, last time I had problems installing XP on a similar system and not reading files was when I had a bad stick of memory that corrupted the files on the hard drive.
