I got a new pc which runs on a 300 watt supply. I added a second hd and 512 MB of memory. I would have added a second dvd rw drive but the case's shape won't allow it to fit properly (on a gateway case, just in case anyone has any solutions to this one). Now that I have added the additional 512 memory the temp goes up quicker but only by about 7 degrees after a hour or two of usage. Is this a power supply problem or something else. Lastly, if significant, I notice my pc is a bit slower in starting up applications than before adding the memory. I am not sure if this is all connected or not, but I could use advice on these issues.

It's odd that adding memory would slow down the PC but I'll leave that to others.

Looking a temperature. You say that your temps have risen by about 7 degrees (C or F?), this is most likely because the memory and/or added CD drive are blocking airflow through the case and therefore hot air can't escape.

It isn't necessarily a problem though (that depends what temperature you are actually getting), can you post with your CPU, GPU and Case temperatures (may be called Aux) both at idle and after the PC has ben working hard for 30 mins or so.

If your current software can't tell you these then Everest Home is excellent and available free on this site.

An additional hd and memory stick are not negligible, as for power consumption. Together with the temps Orbital asked for, please post the model of these components to let us see if the PSU can handle them.
