pc crash after 4 or 5 mins.

unfortunatly i dont know the exact specs, but my friends pc keeps restarting without saving settings after about 4, or 5 mins. I thought maybie it could be heat related, but all fans are at their normal rpm, and it just started happening a month ago or so. also he has two user accounts of which only one acc.(his) has this problem.

the first thing i did was run his anti virus, and spyware tools, this seemed to help for about a week. Also this doesnt happen all the time, is why i wonder if it was just lucky that it didn't happen for a week.

So like i say, when this does happen it usually happens after 4 or 5 mins.
any insight?

 

You need to see what is going on with the account that has problems. I must verify your statement. Only one account on the machine has this issue? Does the problem occur if you create a new account?

Assuming it is the one account, then you need to be asking questions in the Spyware newsgroup.

I have'nt ttried to set a new account on his pc, and yes it is only the one account where it resets, or more correctly....Crashes. I wonder can a virus, or other reside on just one user account? makes sense, but i have never used multiple users on any of my machines.

i'm hoping that it is a stupid error or somthing rather than a spyware related issue. if not i'll post in that area.

I'm hoping for luck on this one as i would like to help him out.

Unfortunately, nobody will be able to help much without knowing the full picture. Do what you can by reading the material suggested. When fixing the system you will need to be logged into his account or administrator account.
