hi, i have recentley installed the new quick time on my pc. when it asked to restart my pc, i restarted it and now it just keeps going through the same cycle of shutting down and trying to restart. it asks if i want to do safe mode, start with last known good settings etc... but whatever i chose, no luck. any help greatly appreciated. thanks

Did you try a restore point before you install quicktime ???

You lost me Clark_Kent with that question/advice Bro?????? but maybe I am reading it wrong

I would turn off the PC, then power up tapping the appropiate F key for your PC to take you directly to "Safe Mode", there you can use MS's system restore to go back to a point prior to your install of QuickTime. That should take you out of the "Loop" your PC is in. Hope that Helps

PS I moved your post to "Software" as this is a more appropriate forum for your question

Dang that's a weird one......So even from power-up and going to "Safe Mode" via the F key, it will automatically go into the loop you discribe???? Do you have a bootable CD, or the original Windows XP install CD??

yeah, there are 4 choices i think, normal mode, safe mode, safe mode + networking, safe mode + dos script (i think) and there is also the option to restore to last known working settings, but whichever i chose, it just goes back around to the begining! i have the original windows disc somewhere. when i find it, what should i do please? there are loads of photos that i really dont want to lose on there so i dont want to reformat it. cheers, sam

right, after a few more searches on the net, i have tried repairing windows. no good. typed in chkdsk /r and it said that it repaired one thing, still no good. taking it to the shop now, reluctantly :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry :cry

How did you get to chkdsk run box if it was in continuous restart?

I mean to say do you have a RESTORE point that you can use before you install quicktime

using system restore..... accessories/system tools/system restore

and check if you have one before installing quicktime.....
