PC does not recognise any hardware

    hi

    My PC crashed and we have loaded XP but PC does not recognise USB or any other hardware.

    Can any one help

    What version of XP are you using? Service Pack 2? If it is an original installation, you will need to install support for USB 2.0, which can generally be found on your Motherboard CD-ROM. You will also need to install drivers for all your other peripherals. The drivers will be on CDs that came with the hardware. :)

    Also one of the first driver installs should be the Chipset or Motherboard drivers as these are needed to allow things like USB hardware to be correctly identified.

    As mentioned above these should be on your motherboard CD, if your PC was a prebuilt OEM once like DELL, HP etc then please give us the Version and Model number and we can help you track the correct drivers down.

    XP pro

    Have reloaded service pack 2

    i am able to see all disks and have started to back up data to CD using CD drive but would like to use USB to connect flash drive as this may be a cheaper and quicker way to move data.

    Are you able to see any USB device that is connected to the system?
