Hi all, a friend recommended Major Geeks so here I am.

I installed a new PNY geforce 7600GS a few days ago. Upgrading from a 5200
I play COD: United offensive but now when I play the game will just freeze w/o warning. no artifacts it just stops on whatever I am seeing and the curser freezes too. It stays like that for 30- 35 secs and restarts the PC. often i get a warning from windows after the reboot:
    STOP 0x000000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER
    - or -
    STOP: 0x100000EA THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER_M

It says to decrease the vid card settings or install latest drivers. i've done both to no avail..

sometimes, the monitor goes black and a floating box of text appears alternating between digital/analog- It has done this a few times before as well ( with the 7600)--then that box changed text to this:
not optimum mode, recommended mode 1280x1024 -I ve tried running the card @ higher resolutions too but it always freezes at some point.

I've tried playing with my A/V disabled, minimum settings in game but still have the problem. It has occured withing 2 minutes of playing to 45 minutes. The temp monitor shows 45c - 47c for the card every time ive checked it. I d/l everst from this site (Thanks!) and here are my system specs. My specs exceed the requirements for the card.

Also, I used driver cleaner yesterday and reinstalled the latest stable drivers from nvideas site. (90.47)

Sounds like a power supply problem. Do you know how many watts your PSU provides?

yea sorry, I meant to list that.
It is a500w Ultra. the gpu has a molex connected direct to PSU (not shared) with any other device

also, my buddy said to disable the auto restart feature so i did.
this time i got the bsod saying a device driver was stuck in a infinite loop. the file was nv4_disp along with the stop error message i posted above.

i just upgraded from msi 5200 to evga 7600 gs. i was having the same exact problem until i came across solution (google trick :)) that recommended installing driver version 85.96. once i installed that, everything started working properly.

i have a problem though that really bugs the hell outta me... the msi video card tabs still show when i right click on desktop and goto properties... it's really pissing me off that msi drivers have left their trail and the drivers for 7600 didn't bother removing or taking over. msi tab now shows that i have an unkown vid card with 256 ram and it's in a pci slot.... MY CARD IS AGP!!! aaa! can someone help?

btw, I've already ran Driver Cleaner PE <- pos program didn't do anything except for screwing it more! any suggestions?
