PC freezes and also wont shut down

I'm running win 7 home premium sp1 64 bit, Intel core i5 760 @ 2.80GHz 2.88GHz , 16GB RAM.
I was having a problem after utorrent did an update. My PC was freezing randomly. Didn't mater if i was doing anything or not. I had also installed a USB3 card. I have tried uninstalling utorrent and have also removed the card. I have run all the malware checks and found nothing. The only way I can use the computer without it crashing is in safe mode. Help Please!!!

 

Update! Im now not sure I have posted this in the right section but I reinstalled utorrent and as soon as I start it..it loads..starts working then the PC freezes..every time. I tried it in safe mode and it restarted the PC, every time. SOmething is very weird here!!

 

Hi sounds like you have a nasty in there somewhere ... go to command and type msconfig and look at your start up and check to see if there is an entry that you do not recognize, sounds as a virus came with the Utorrent install. If you don't recognize a listing in start up uncheck the box .

I still think it could be a virus due to the fact that it runs ok in safe mode .. lets go back to ''msconfig' and start up section and Uncheck all references ... reboot and see the result after com running for a period. Then go back to start up section and check one reference at a time, keep doing this until the computer becomes unstable again. Bit of a long winded affair but patience is a virtue. Have you run an online Anti virus scan, heres one I use which is quite efficient and can be executed in Safe Mode.

I went through the msconfig routine and no difference. After finishing that Utorrent said there was an update that was stable so I did it and it seems to have solved the problem. I have had it running for a while now and so far its all good. Only slight problem is my internet seems a little slow. I am using Advanced system care 8 pro and malwarebytes latest and avast antivirus. None of them showed any nasties. I did give the online scanner a go and that also came up clean

 

I am by no means a specialist, but if you think it might be utorrent you could also try wiping your appdata from the utorrent folder. It is probably a virus in utorrent appdata.

Hi again .. if I remember correctly I have had experience of this before and a nasty came with the Utorrent update.. The actual app was ok until the update was DL'ed so it might be wise to uninstall Utorrent using an uninstall prog of which can be had here on MG and after running that do a manual/delete of any references you may find in the registry. Reinstall Utorrent from a recognised site Like Sourceforge this link is directed from SForge

How do I go about doing the manual delete of registry entries? Never played around there much

 

a its ok..I used the uninstaller in Advanced System Care 8 and that also did a registry clean
