I'm not sure if it's because I'm older or if pc games have become far less interesting then 10 yrs ago but I have a very hard time keeping interested playing pc games these days.

I find most better graphically but they seem buggier, have little to no plot and often the interfaces are un necessarily complex or clunky.

Is it because most pc games are now console ports? Are they being rushed out too quickly before being tested thoroughly? Or is it because I'm now an old fart?

(prolly a combo of everything above)
    :-D

I hear ya. I installed the original Far Cry last week, thinking about buying UT2004 again (gave it away a few yrs ago).

Also thinking about buying Orange Box again (also gave that away). HL2 was great, I've heard HL3 is "in the pipes" but it may be awhile.

I've been having fun with World of Tanks. Been playing this non-stop recently. Free to play, though you can pay into it. But even paying into it doesn't mean you will be better.

This game is now my current style of play. I can play a battle or two that will last a total of 5-20 minutes. You can check my stats here.

I don't consider that I'm a good player, but it is fun. I also have diablo 3, that I bought and played for 20 minutes and went back to WoT. :-D

If you do play, don't give up, if you die. I've died plenty. Played 613 games, died 413 of them. :cry Also, you don't need a beast of a system to play, if you turn down everything, which I do, even with my stats.

I don't think it's on the decline, single player campaigns are shorter than they used to be and in FPS the emphasis is on multiplayer because that's the majority market.
But personally I loved every one of the COD single player, short but fun and in a couple of cases especially the MW trilogy I thought the story was epic.
BF3 single player was fun but a bit weak.
Currently playing through Sniper Elite V2, again story is an old rehash but the gameplay is great.
There have always been bad games and good games, it's just the length of the single player has reduced, but think about how much bigger HDD space these games are taking up now, your average game is a 10gb install, the graphical and physics and sound have all been upgraded so far, to double the length of the SP would mean an average game size of 13-15GB, meaning the bigger ones would be 20gb and if they are releasing them on consoles, the Xbox can't handle games that big due to media restrictions.

But I still don't see how there have been no good games in 10 years, the Crysis games, COD's, BF's, Stalkers just to mention a few.

I often wonder if peoples expectations have risen too high for what is financially and physically possible. Not to mention the devs are often given strict deadlines which hinders the potential "Epics".

Nowadays if you want epic SP, then you have to look at companies like Bethesda etc.
