PC going crazy, mind of it's own possibly due to a recent update XP

    Hi Guys

    Did a system restore about 3 weeks ago. Since then all hell has broken loose within my PC. My windows firewall keeps being turned off after i shut down, when on the web (firefox if anyone needed that info) new tabs will open taking me to sites i've never heard of. I get a warning message saying that DCOM server process has terminated unexpectedly and i have 1 min before PC reboots (very annoying)

    Don't know if this has anything to do with the above but last week my AV found some trojans, again unexpectedly as the site i go on are the ones i always use my AV was up to date also. Anyway i panicked as never had one before so sent them to vault - haven't done anything else with them yet.

    Just spoke to a mate who said they were also having similar probs so now im wondering if there has been an update causing this.

    Sorry it's a bit long winded - info, OS =XP AV = Avira FW= windows
    Auto Updates = ON

    Hi and welcome

    With your great description I would safely say you still have malware on your PC, so follow the below.

    You'll need to run this here READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide and then post a new thread in the malware forum and attach the logs requested, so that our malware experts can help you through removing this, as you will agree malware is a pest with many infected its a busy forum area so they work from the oldest post to the newest post so even if you think they are not replying they will do once they get to you in the list, if you add new posts then you'll end up at the back of the list, even though your post is at the top of the forum, top is bottom in that part of the forum.

    Once someone has answered you they will help you with steps to follow BUT please be patient as its a busy forum with a few volunteers who devote their spare free time to help remove malware from yours and others PCs.
