    Hi,
    I use Windows 7 pro.
I have my files / folders as Large Icons due to my site.
Every now & then & i think nothing to do with me but when i go into a folder they are all organised Details.

Also in another folder i have plenty of PDF files of which are saved as Large Icons sort Name / Desending but as you guessed something changes it.

Am i missing a setting or can you advise please how i can stop this.

    Thanks

If you click the column heading (name, date, details, size, etc.) it will sort the list of files by that heading. The folder will remember that the next time you access it. So if you sort by 'name' in one folder and by 'details' in a different folder, it will seem like chaos but it's not. It's just remembering your last input for that folder.

    Hi,
I understand what you have advised & this is what ive always been doing BUT the issue is when i vist various folder the pc has decided to change from LARGE ICONS to say DETAILS

I never save by DETAILS so this is my issue.

One folder i have say 300 pdf files of which i sort NAME / DESCENDING then one day i open this folder & its now sorted as NAME / ASCENDING
So what you are advising & i also agree with isnt working.
You are saying ANY folder can be sorted DIFFERENT to any other folder so this is your choice for the folder in question BUT what i am seeing is folders i open are say all sorted by SMALL ICONs & i then need to change them all the time.

I'm using Windows 10 & I don't have a Win7 machine, but try this anyways as the process should be fairly close to the same...

    Open the File Explorer window
View > Navigation Pane > make sure only Navigation Pane is selected

    Expand Computer/This PC
    upload_2022-7-24_17-18-33.png
Perform the following actions for each highlighted locations one at a time...
View menu> Extra Large Icons setting
    upload_2022-7-24_17-24-1.png
then back to View > Options > Change folder and search options > View tab > Apply to Folders button > Yes button (to confirm "Do you want all folders of this type to match this folder's view settings?")

This should make it so the Extra Large Icons setting you want cascades down to all the child objects under each location.
It's a little bit cumbersome and repetitive, but it should get your icons looking the way you want, or at least most of them. I wish we could just make the setting under the This PC root location but Windows doesn't seem to allow it.

    Hope this helps.
