    Hi

Ive been trying to get my pc back to work after 4 days and i keep failing at it. I recentley bought a new video card, this one:http://www.club-3d.com/productshow_...dia&ordercode=CGN-GS766&show=&p=&filter=&l=en

and i did everything the instructions said but once i start the cd and want to install the driver, i keep getting an error saying its not compatible with my current driver and it has to close down the installation.
Ive already tried removing the old driver before i installed the new one but it doesnt work. So i tried sth. else..i downloaded the version 91.45 driver from www.laptopvideo2go.com like a friend of mine told.. i did that and the error didnt come up this time.Everything was installed. The problem now is, my computer shuts down, runs, restarts VERY SLOW since i installed it and ive tried like everything these 4 days. I ran everything from virusscans to spyware scans blabla and stil the same problem, its still slow as hell!! I re-installed windows exp for the third time now and im fed up with it :D
Is it possible that my computer just isnt able to support this new graphic card?
Here's all the information about my computer.

    im desperate!!

    Neeeeed Helppppppppppppp

    thnx in advance,

    Bye =(

What kind of video card did it previously have...you might have to run a drive cleaner in order to properly remove the old driver before you install the new one!!

used to have this: nVIDIA NV31-P141 GeForce FX 5600 128 MB DDR + TV-Out (RCA) grafische kaart

Ive done a drive cleaner in the past, and it didnt stop the error from happening.

BTW, the 91.45 version i downloaded from www.laptopvideo2go.com was with the editted INF file, cause else it didnt work and it would give me the error again at the installation..

EDIT: alright ill run driver cleaner, ill post the result soon. (thnx guys)

try the driver cleaner again and see if it made any difference. you could have been using a crapy driver cleaner.

Ok i managed to find a driver that DOES run without the error, 91.33 BETA. i installed it, thought i got a message saying it didnt get aprove by a logo test or sth and could cause an instable computer if i install it. ALL the drives i ever downloaded gave that message btw.
Anyway its installed but my computer is still slow. Could this be spyware or trojans or sth? I do have a firewall, norton internet security 2005. Since my CPU=100% like all the time it might be spyware right?... :S ill run Spybot and Ad-aware but its going to be a hell with this slow computer :( ill give an update soon.

I think rogvalcox intended to provide this link:

    http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=35407

As suggested, READ it and FOLLOW it EXACTLY, so you can test your system for spyware / malware / other nasties. Chances are, Windows is coughing up furballs, but you have to rule out malware before you try to "fix" Windows.
