several months ago my pc kept restarting without my help. a geek at besybuy suggested installing a new hard drive which i did. several months later the same problem is happening again, the pc restarts over and over. could the motherboard be going bad? its an HP Pavilion, 3 years old running XP. it has 756mb of ram so it shouldn't be a memory problem.

If your video card is using 12 mgs...then probably not the ram ....more info please ...does it do it when idle? When running certain programs ....do you get a bsod ...if not turn off the restart on errors ....

the pc will start up normally, i get to the sign in page and the pc will start loading windows and while it's loading it will shut down and restart on it's own. before this happened my internet went out and i had already installed a new ethernet card-i'm using dsl with qwest and their troubleshooter showed the internet was fine but my pc was the issue. i can't run a program and the pc is already restarting itself
    thanks luke
