    Hi
Not really sure if this is correct forum but here goes.

My PC running windows 7 Home premium with 8gb RAM has been giving the appearnce of freezing for a few weeks at 7-10 GMT.

I am usually on Runescape at this time and everything stops. The internet indicator in the task bar sometines shows like it is connected and soetimes has the yellow triangle and exclamation mark.

If i look at the network and sharing centre/lan it usually shows internet access is there. The router, a DLink DSL 2780(TalkTalk) led's seem to be ok.

This is driving me nuts now and the time it stops is now 8-10 as the clocks have just moved to BST.

I tried looking for scheduled things, nothing around this timeframe i can.
Also looked in event viewer and the only really regular thing is "googler updater service" fails.

I have also uunistalled chrome using revo u ninstall on moderate with extended clean up in registry and files/folders but it still insisted that the google updater had failed.

Sorry to go on a bit but is easiert o layout what I have done rather than go over old ground

Do you have any scheduled tasks that start at this time that could be affecting your internet connection?

From the Start Button, click on Run and type in:

    Code:
    taskschd.msc

Report back what you find here:

Also: Do you connect via wire or wireless? If wireless, try going to the wire.

    Also, have a read here:

Might be some insight for you there...

    Hi CIpher
I connect to router via the yellow ethernet cable that was supplied

I looked in the task sched and nothing appears in the task status window for the last 24 hours, however there are 40 entries in the active tasks window

OK. Let's not mess with any of these tasks...

Logic dictates that if your problem occurs when Runescape is running, the problem is there. Do you play for a while and then the freeze? How long? I'm thinking the game is hogging CPU, since at 8GB RAM you have plenty of that.

Is your Java and Video Card Driver up to date? If not, update them.

Also, what other apps are you running besides the game when this occurs? Try running the game with everything else closed.

What browser are you using? there are reports of Firefox and Runescape not plaing well, maybe IE...

    Hi
WIth regards to runescape, if i play in the day it seems ok, it really only plays up at 7-10 gmt, after it stops the once and reconnects it will behave until i log at 9 to 9 30 ish gmt
I think both java and vid card are up to date but obviously i will check this out.

I tried dropping kaspersky 15 mins before the "usual event" but that made no difference as it still stopped on me:(

I guess i could use "game mode", a feature of advance system care to try and stop all unessential things.

I tend to use firefox but run rs from a client programme and not the browser, perhaps i should try runninbg from a browser for one night?

This sounds good. Take a look at the Task Manager before and during the occurence, see if you can spot anything hogging CPU cycles first, then try "game mode."

As an aside, I once had a reputable piece of anti-spyware software give me fits when playing an MMOG. You never know what is going to cause a conflict like this...

I'm thinking a client program is better, but you could try it. Try Firefox and IE.

There are many good about:config hacks for FF that can make a difference, check them out. Also this made a significant difference for me:

ok did as asked, nothing seemed over hungry in task manager, despite stopping a few services and usings game booster the puter still stopped as always.

the symptoms were as usaul, runescape stopped, initially the internet indicators in the right hand corner was clear and when opened network properties said internet was connected, approx 90 seconds later the indicator showed a yellow triangle and exclamation mark, the properties said no access on IPv4 and it stayed this way, with me glaring at it, for a couple of minutes before deciding to carry on as it was before, the only thing i had to do was log on to RS again, after that all was ok

One prog I could no seem to close from the notification area was AMD Catakyst, opening it up reveals no obvious, to me that is , way to stop it from initally running or being able to turn it off.

Maybe tonight I will try to run RS from firefox and not the client to see it that helps

This sounds more like a problem with your internet provider.

About 30 seconds before it is due next time open a browser window and sit there refreshing a web page (google will be fine) and see if your connectivity drops out.

    Just so I'm clear:

    • You fire up the game at the usual time.
    • 90 seconds later it slows, then no internet connectivity.
    • You restart the game and all is well.
What do you have running just before game time?
Can you restart the computer about ten minutes before you start the game, launch nothing, and then fire up the game at the usual time?
