PC loses internet connection after awakening from sleep mode.

Hi,never had this problem until 1 week ago.I always put my PC into "sleep mode" at night.I always put the high speed internet modem into "standby" at night.
After i bring the PC out of sleep mode and the modem out of standby mode and the PC is ready,the PC has no internet connection at all-----it`s not even listed under "network connections".I have to "reboot" the PC to get the internet connection back.We`ve had this PC for a year and never had this problem until the past week.

I`d appreciate any solutions as to how to keep the internet connection after awakening from sleep mode.

I may as well respond since no one else has "yet".I believe this problem started right after i installed the latest package of Microsoft Windows Updates--perhaps uninstalling them will fix it.
