PC Mess - Windows XP

Oye, do I have a problem.

My windows XP PC emachine version w3115 is messed up. BAD! I've lost access to my administrator accounts, both back door and typical log-in. I tried to use Angel PC and it won't even get past the copy files before locking itself down. My disc drive keeps flubbing out and I don't have 60 bucks to buy a new one every day. So, here's the pickle.

Is there some way I can reboot my entire computer by myself or should I enlist some very expensive help?

Problem is, the last tech guy I sent it to locked me out of my back door admin account and somehow that lock out extended to my atypical login.

What exactly do you see on the screen when you try to boot the computer?

Does F8 immediately at boot (before Windows starts) take you to options such as Safe Mode, Last known good configuration? If so choose last known good configuration before trying any other option.

 

I have no problem booting the computer, but standard repair (anything requiring administrator attention) is beyond the scope of regular user limits. Everything boots normally other then that. It's very unusual and I can't figure out how it even happened...

 

How exactly are you locked out of the Administrator accounts--password?

You have to explain your set up a bit more. How many accounts do you have? Which ones are administrative level? What happens when you try to access the admin level accounts?

There is an Administrator account in Safe Mode (f8) that is usually hidden. If there is no password set for that it may be useful in elevating a limited account to administrator level.
