Yesterday I had their free Exterminator scan my system. It claimed to have found "Trojan.Agent.2842624.A" in PhotPerfect.

I then scanned PhotoPerfect's folder with Malwarebyte's Anti-Malware and with ZoneAlarms's AntiVirus. Neither of them found anything suspicious.

The program has been installed fo many months.

Can anyone comment on the reliability of PC Pitstop's scans, and on their overall credibility?

    Thank you.

    Hi

As PhotoPerect is legit software, I can hazard a guess that PC Pitstops online scanner has flagged this as a false positive, sadly as malware tries to mimic files from legit applications alot, some scanners do at times flag up legit apps as malware (trojans and viri), all antivirus scanners suffer at times from this, but generally the virus definitions files are fixed quite quickly to remove the false positive,

PC Pitstop is fine, but they just need to be aware that this legit application is now listed as malware when its not, worth emailing their support and telling them of this so they can fix it.

Thank you. I thought that may be the case.

I sent the information to PC Pitstop and to Arcadia Software.

PC Pitstop has just responded with what can only be described as corporate waffle.

Arcadia responded too, with assurances that their downloads are scanned and saying that I may download a more recent iteration of the program.

The little program that PitStop installs is difficult to get rid of. Leaves residue everywhere. And it actually slows down you PC. That's my experience. But other that that: yes it is reliable.

    Thank you for the info.

I did a clean-up once I uinstalled it (registry, orphaned files etc).

I used to like pc pitstop on till a year ago or so. Now it seems to me they are trying to push their products. For example, I ran the test and it came back that I needed some drivers, and all i had to do was click on the link. i clicked on the link and it brought me to their webpage for their drivers product. I couldnt get the driver unless i purchased the product. As it said, "Downloading of the product is only for registered users" I have a user name and password with the website, but evidently that wasnt what they were talking about. I also noticed that with items that they said that needed fixing. Im looking for another website that can test a pc, like pc pitstop does.

Does any one know of any?
    Thanks,
