PC problem

I don't really know what to put as the title, but let me explain my dilemma, yesterday afternoon i was chilling on twitter, tweeting myself away when my google chrome froze, I tried to stop the application through task manager and then that froze and my pc then blue screened, ever since then, when I try and start up windows it repeatedly flashes the colours (windows 7 start up) and it starts after an hour or so, so I get on my laptop and I get about 10 error messages saying some concpl.dll is errored and that it is unable to run, then my sound says it's not detecting any sound drivers and that my internet had nothing to connect to, again I left it for another hour ad it seemed to fix itself now, what the question is regarding software i want to find something which is free and detects bad registry and system files because i think something is corrupt and that's got a domino effect on the rest of the computer, now I'm not a computer geek and this is an assumption, but if any of you geeks would like to support me in such anguish and tell me WTF is going on so I can use my laptop freely again, I'd love you forever.
