I've had this problem for a while now, but I've constantly brushed it aside, because I've constantly thought it was software (more specifically Windows), but a couple of manual factory-standard restarts tell me it's hardware. When the PC auto-restarts, it brings up a message saying "Windows as experienced a severe error." Downloaded AIDA, and here's what I got...

    Basic Info:

    OS- Windows XP Home SP2
    RAM- 1015 MB
    CPU- Intel Pentium 4, 3GHz
    Motherboard ID- SONY HARRY2

    Temps:
    Motherboard- 108F, 42C
    CPU- 120F, 48C
    Aux- 108F, 42C

Personally, I think it's either a bad power system or the high temperatures I'm getting...or maybe both. If there's anything else I missed adding to this post, I've got a basic (?) report attatched, so that should tell you something of my problem. First post, and a hardware noob, please help.

there is an option to tell windows not to restart after an error, it's in the system control panel, under the advanced tab, then startup and recovery settings, there is a box under system failure that says automatic restart. uncheck it. maybe then you will get a better error message.

Well, the crash finally happened, and here's what I got:

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

    DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

    *skipped down a bit*

    Technical Information

    ***STOP: 0x000000D1 (0x337AAB93, 0X00000002, 0x00000000, 0xA4DBB98)
    ***WUSBGXP.sys - Address A4DBBD98 base at A4A92000, Datestamp 4069f4da

After I restarted Windows, I checked that dialog that pops up (Windows has experienced a serious error) and here's some info from the Error Report:

    BCCode: 100000d1
    BCP1: 337AAB93
    BCP2: 00000002
    BCP3: 00000000
    BCP4: A4DBBD98
    OSVer: 5_1_2600
    SP: 2_0
    Product: 768_1

...now, what does all of this mean, and should I provide any more information?

  4. my guess would be overheating.
take the sides off and let it breath and maybe even fan the inside a little bit and see if the problem persists.

The problem seemed to stop for a sec, but it just happened again a little while ago. here's the dump files...but there are only 2 for some reason...

I'll edit this post after I use that memtest program, but I think it's actually hardware now, like XBladeX said. A friend of mine mentioned the power supply when he checked it out a while back, NTM it hasn't had a new part in it since I got it last year.
