pc reboot?

Hi,

My PC just rebooted while on the net. I was just downloaded adobe8 and had been looking at PC sites (nothing dodgy).

Now my pc had been cleaned last weak of viruses and i haven't used it much since then , and has been working fine. The cables are not loose and I have no idea of where to start looking for the problem.

I installed a 2nd HD and DVD-rw last week but they have been working fine. The dvd-rw will get noisy if i boot up and an old cd is loaded in. Th epc boots from old HD no problems.

Any ideas on my winXP,p4 2.0ghz 512mb pc on what to do or to diagnose?

 

Well has it rebooted since? If not just forget about it in my opinion. Has happened to me loads.

 

It hasn't happened since and chkdsk ran the next bootup. A bit scary to be honest and smitfraud has 2 files of reboot.exe which the AV didn't like.

 

OK well get a anti virus and a anti spyware. I recommend AVG FREE anti virus and spybot search and distroy. They are both downloadable off The main Majorgeeks page. (and Google if the servers are slow lol.)

Run scans on both, if you dont find anything just forget about it. The wore case scenario you may have to plop your XP cd in and fix windows but for this problem it seems unlikely.
