It seems that when the ambient temp is hot the PC goes though a normal windows shutdown when asked and then after you hear the power switch cut the power off, it starts up again within about a second?

    Why would this be? :confused

It's never happened until I replaced a faulty PSU about a month ago and things have got hot this summer. Internal component temps are good - CPU and HDD's in the low 50's 'C under heavy load.

    Ideas anyone?

I had this issue on a computer a few months back, and found some useful info here. Also, the recommended solution worked for me . . .

There's also information on this on the microsoft knowledgebase

Thanks for the help Tarquin BA but i checked the "auto restart on failure" setting and it wasn't set.

Is there some other setting that makes the pc reboot when it should shut down?

I was wrong about thinking I could hear the power switch disengage, it's actually one of the drives shutting down.

    Ideas anyone?.....
