I have run all tools I can download and also the McAfee AVERT. I can not run any online scans becaues I have a 5-7 min window ( minus boot up time) before reboot. What else can I do. The tools found a few things that I have cleaned up.

Does it happen in safe mode as well?

Yes. I am on a network and it reboots even under admin.

can you post a hjt log as an attachment? (please follow the steps )

Here is the HJthis log. It may be hardware related but it seems odd that my Symantec becomes disabled before it reboots. Thanks

Try this first and see if it helps. This may be viral, run the Symantec removal tool and see what it picks up. (click here ).

I can not complete the scan. I only have 5- 10 minutes. Can I target certain directorys or look for registery enteries.

Start/run then type services.msc if you find a service called Application then you are infected with the virus. if not then you may very well have a hardware issue as far as i can tell...

oh by the way, that R3 entry in your hjt log is bad, remove it.

When I run services.msc I see an "Application Management" and "Application Layer Gateway" Are these ok?

Yup, ok. You may want to run a hard drive test, run/cmd type chkdsk /f and yes and reboot. You will also want to continue this thread in the Hardware forum, (unless anyone else has any suggestions?...)

Scan with Hijack This and have it fix this entry:

R3 - Default URLSearchHook is missing

Make sure you close ALL browsers before clicking fix!

    Now,

Reset Web Settings & Default Security Settings:

    To Reset Web Settings:
Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK.

If you do not have an Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop, click Start, Control Panel (for some systems it may be Start, Settings, Control Panel), Internet Options, Programs tab and then click "Reset Web Settings". Now go back to the General tab and set your home page address to something useful like www.majorgeeks.com. Click Apply. Click Delete Cookies, Click Delete Files and select Delete all Offline content too, Click OK. When it finishes Click OK

    To Default Security Settings:
Right click on your desktop Internet Explorer icon and select Properties. Then click the Security Tab and click Default Level for Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted Sites, and Restricted Sites.

Does it just reboot without warning or does it give a error or message?

Do you have a Super Micro mother board?

Are you familiar with SDIII or SuperoDoctor?

My computer reboots without warning. I have Super Doctor on my workstation but am not familiar with it. Here is my latest HJlog

Reason I ask is because of this line:

    C:\Program Files\SDIII\NTService.exe

Are you familiar with this? Is it required?

I am on a network at my office. This workstation is on that network in my office. I am looking at the SDIII display and everything appears normal. The System temperature is the only thing that appears on the graphs as high. It shows 44/111 for status and 65/149 for the High Limit.

    BigGarrick,

One more question. When my workstation reboots I keep seeing a cmd prompt window in the lower right corner very briefly appear. Is that normal? and also one of the things I deleted/removed was a SAH agent. It no longer shows up in my adaware scans but could that be causing a problem. I also remember hitting a site, can't remmember where, that downloaded like hundreds of problems. After that happened I restored and it seemed to have cleared it up. The SAH agent was the only thing I kept seeing.

Since you came to the hardware forum.
Check your device manager and see if there is any yellow exclamation mark.

  25. pooyie

    pooyie Private E-2

No yellow flags. I did have trouble with my workstation not recognizing a SCSI card or device attached just before this happened. I rebooted and it eventually recognized it.

    Type

    sfc /scannow

    in the run box.
Put in your xp cd if it asks.
This will ensure you have good windows files.

You say you have high system temperatures?
    Which processor/motherboard do you have?

  28. Anon-068c403e2d

    Anon-068c403e2d Anonymized

If 44/111 is your current status and 65/149 is your high limit. This means your temperature is normal.
Does your temp ever go above or near 65?

  29. pooyie

    pooyie Private E-2

Not that I am aware of. I just checked the SDIII to see if maybe there was odd voltage or hot cpu

Delete everything in your prefetch folder and temp folder.
    c:\windows\prefetch
    C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp

Here is my new problem. I was running sfc /scannow and it asked for my XP cd so I put it in. It ran for a little while then my computer decided to reboot. While it was coming up it asked if I wanted to reboot from my cd, so I took out the Zcd and let if finish rebooting. But now all I get when it attempts to finsh loading is a blue screen with and error message that windows was prevented from loading to prevent damage to my computer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    what now?

Re: PC reboots every 5 minutes Now I can't get in

You can do a repair install,if you dont want to lose them.
    Hit R key when prompted.

  37. pooyie

    pooyie Private E-2

No new hardware has been added. I replaced a raide drive after it was rebuilt. It was a SEAAGAte Barracuda. My machine was working fine after that. It was only on Monday I started having issues with the reboots

  38. pooyie

    pooyie Private E-2

So now I have to put in the XP CD and boot from that? Do I do it in safe mode ? Not sure how to do this.

You might have to press enter key instead of the r key.

  45. Anon-068c403e2d

    Anon-068c403e2d Anonymized

    Press Enter key first(not R).
If your installation is detected then press the R key.

  46. pooyie

It asks to press F6 for Raid restore, when I do that it comes back later and says it can not determine the type of Mass storage.

  47. pooyie

    pooyie Private E-2

It asks to type s to specify the type of mass storage. When you do this it asks for you to insert the manufacturers disk into the a: drive and hit enter.
I fould in my supprt material a floppy disk with the following on it:

ADAPTEC 2930 Ultra Drivers fo WIn XP Controller 2010s

If i insert this will it alter the raide drives? I cannot loose any data on those drives or access to those drives.

  48. Anon-068c403e2d

    Anon-068c403e2d Anonymized

    Do it without raid.
    Hit enter key first.
In the next menu hit R.

If you got a floppy to install the raid.Try that.

    pooyie Private E-2

If by using this raide driver floppy will I alter or is my setup for the raide different so that I will not be able to access these drives? These drives contain an incredible amount of info. I cannot afford to not be able to access them.
