PC says internet is connected but cannot load IE pages

I just added memory to my pc and when I turned it back on I could not access the internet. I use a router, and I can access the internet wirelessly through my iPod. I thought my iPod was the problem so I turned off the interet connection on it. Still no internet. I rebooted the machine and still have a problem. It was working fine yesterday. I use Comcast Motorola Surfboard modem, and a Netgear router. The modem is like 2 or 2 years old.
I had just uninstalled McCaffee, and I am wondering if that is part of the problem for no internet connection. I tried power cycling bothe the modem and the router but it didn't have any effect. What else can I try?

 

If it says you're connected you could try looking at your tcp/ip settings. Right click the connection, click properties. Wireless card should come up, highlight internet protocol and hit properties right below that. Make sure it's on obtain ip and dns address automatically.

Could be way off, but came across this solution when trying to fix my problem.
