I have an HP Compaq dc7600. For the past month or so, it periodically shows me Battery Level, like a desktop system would. When I try to click on it (in the tray), it disappears.

    Any ideas????

    Hi

Curious one, as you not have laptop, so my thoughts are:

    1. Do you have a keyboard or mouse that is wireless and its software may show a battery icon in system tray?

    2. Check the Power Schemes in Control Panel > Power Options > is it set to Laptop by any chance? if so change to Home/Office Desktop or Always On

    Nope, and nope.

I wonder if it's to tell me the APS backup battery was utilized, like a power surge or blip happened? I have just never seen such a thing on a desktop before!

    Thats most likely it.

Might want to try updating your powerchute software.
