well i just got a new pc. played many new games and it works fine. but when i play online games it shuts down, if the games grafics are good it goes down in like 1 min if its worse then it takes about 15 min.
heat is not a problem since GPU stays at around 70C (got to 86C with a grafic card test) and CPU stays at 38C. also got a 500W startronic PSU and its new so i dont think its the problem either. could any 1 help me plz.

    i got:
    AMD phenom II 3x 2.7ghz
    2x2gb ram ddr2
    GTS 250 video card

    Hi

Is that all games its happening with or just ones that you go online with? also what games are affected?

If the PC is shutting down then in the Event logs are there any clues as to what may have crashed, application or system lists are the general ones for these types of problems and at the time playing a game and shutdown, look in the logs at time of the crash for a error.

Just check this and enter your BIOS and check for the PC temperature setup and warnings, maybe dependent on Motherboard under PCHealth and while your temps from within Windows maybe ok, I just wonder is a BIOS setting for temp is set too low (sometimes the BIOS just defaulty is not set right), so up the temps thresholds and save and exit BIOS and try game again.

While 500W is a good size PSU, I would check with this PSU calculator and enter as much as your hardware as possible and see what they advise http://www.antec.outervision.com/

These days power and a high Wattage good quality PSU is crucial, if your just hitting around 500W with all the HW, dependent on the stability of the current on all the rails, it may not be enough. With my last build I thought 700W would be ok, but had second thoughts and went while a tad overkill with 1000W to rule out power issues and allow for upgradability.

it goes only for online. i played resident evil 5, red faction guerilla and it worked splendid. and games like cabal turn off in 15 min. is it possible for such a game to such more energy?
oh and i did that woltage test and got 600+ tho i dunno if it was correct since i didint understand a few sections :p

500W is on the lowest side possible for a computer like yours... try disconnecting something non-vital, like your optical drive or your soundcard, and see if that stops the crashing.

Also of course try Halo's temp adjustment suggestions. The more info we can get, the better.

Are you using the onboard NIC on the motherboard, or a dedicated network card?

Since it happens only when you go online, post some details about your connection. Firewall, modem, router, that sort of thing. And see if turning off the firewall makes a difference. :)
