PC Speakers??

Currently have altec lansing 2.1 cube speakers. They are ok at best. Looking for maybe a 5.1 or 6.1 set that is good for gaming and music. I play guitar thru the pc occassionaly. I know I should get some good monitors for that but can't afford what I want, plus they would be awful for gaming. What do you guys recommend as a good middle ground?

I can't even remember what onboard sound my MB has at the moment. Its an ASUS P4c800e deluxe with everything on it.

 

i connect my PC to my reciever .. if you already have one already might save you money and would probably be better than any PC speakers ... just a thought

 

i've given up with pc speakers - just have my marshall 50dfx connected to my computer and can play music through it and connect up my guitar. looking for a new soundcard though that will take more than one phono lead and possibley some minijacks for a studio computer in the basement - anyone got any ideas?

sony do some good speakers but if you go with them, don't go for the cheap ones - splash out
if you want cheap and easy 5.1 go for Trust or if you want good quality and don't mind splashing out, then go with Creative - they do some great ones!

 

you really cant beat klipcsh (sp?) for sound quality when it comes to PC speakers.
