I did some research through the forum looking for a problem close to mine, the only thing I found was this title: "Brownout Baked my Computer?" However, my issue seems different to me.

Problem Description: Most times the PC starts on the first push of the "on" button. However, there are days, when it takes 5 or 6 pushes to get it going. Once the PC is up and running it works fine.

    Background:
    1. XP Pro OS in Intel 2 Duo Processor, and ASUS motherboard
    2. PSU is Zalman600-HP in Lian Li case
The system drives 4 flat screens on 2 GeForce graphic cards
    3. Battery Pack with surge suppressor - The system has survived a direct lighting hit (about 8 months ago) and many, less than a second, power outages.

I found an OCZ ModXStream Pro 700W PSU for $57.00 which I think I will buy. However, if someone has other things I may check (without corruptiong my system), I'd welcome the suggestions.

    Thanks,
    P.S.: I went to the site http://www.wikihow.com/Reset-Your-BIOS
And, I must say the some of the instructions were not comprehensible. Steps 4 and 5 lost me.

Caliban I don't need no steenkin' title!

If you're 100% while you're up and running, no other symptoms, then you might take a look at the power switch and its path - maybe something's not latching or connecting somehow, either at the switch or at the motherboard.

If you can get to the switch easily, shoot some contact cleaner in it - don't get any on the panel, though: some cleaners discolor plastic.

I recently replaced a 6 year old PSU in one of my older PCs because of a very similiar issue. If I shut it off and unplugged it for an extended time, It would take a while before it would power up when I pushed the button. I took apart the old PSU after I replaced it and found several capacitors near/at the point of failure (the tops were bulged and had leakage).
