    Hello

My system is stuck in a cycle where a virus corrupted the registry and somehow locked it into recovery mode.
The system is HP, and XP Pro. I am desperate to keep it because ironically I am on a course for MCDST, but this has stumped me.

Now, when it tries to enter the setup, it does a stop error, complaining of a corrupt file in config.
The nasty thing is, my PC did not come with a XP disk of any kind, just a recovery partition (and I never did the sensible thing of burning a reovery dvd, simply cos I never seem to buy any).

No floppy drive either. I do, however, have a windows server 2003 disk. I wonder if that might solve anything?

Thanks if you might be able to help. At the moment, I need to knock the computer out of the auto-F11 cycle and get it to start up properly.

    Hello There,

You might have to consider in reformatting the hard drive to see if that gets rid of the virus if it has then you can do a fresh install of your OS if the virus is still there then you might have to look at replacing your hard drive ith another one and do a fresh install on that hard drive.

    Hope this helps
