Pc turning itself off~!~

im running windows xp, i have 256mb ram, amd athlon dual core processor, 2.11gh, Nvidia GeForce 8600GT video card, multiple cooling fans, as you can probably tell im not too computer savy. however im sure that my computer isnt overheating, my outlet is not the cause, fairly certain my graphics card isnt doing it, my powersource is the only thing i can think of but as it has turned itself off over a hundred times now i would think if its the powerpack the damn thing wouldnt turn on by now.. it happens completely randomly sometimes when im playing age of conan.. sometimes when i open combat arms. (both online games).. i dont have the cash to have it put on a diagnostic right now.. but im on disability and all i have to do is play my pc. so its very very aggrivating seeing its my only hobby and it chooses to turn itself off randomly with no warning no bluescreen and no sorry note...im begging you guys help me get to the bottom of my possessed pc,,,, also id like to add that these problems shouldnt happen with the way that i baby my pc with spybot and avg, cleanup 321.. i dote on my computer this crap shouldnt happen.. and its barely a year old.. completely unnacceptable.. please help _:cry

 

You're playing Age of Conan on 256MB of RAM...? Wow.

Spend the $30 or less and help the poor machine out. Forcing any OS to run games on 256MB is as close to hardware abuse as you can get without spilling soda on the motherboard.

 

It is obviously the RAM, dude like mimsy said 256MB is abuse!!
Im sure if your mobo can support 8600gt gfx and amd dual core then it will be able to support at least 2GB of DECENT ram, like 667 PC5300 or something as it is the cheaper option

 

I am sooooooo sorry everyone im a stoner.. my ram is 2 gig... and that is NOT the problem.. i messed up when i was reading stats... i have 2 g of ram.. but the rest of the specs are correct.. and my pc is still doing it

 

What do you have running in the background when you play the game? Antivirus, firewalls, anything else that might interfere?
