PC turns off abruptly when online/utorrent

    Hi,

I'm having a strange and annoying problem that just won't fix!

Every time I'm online my computer cuts off its power abruptly.

At first it only happened immediately after I ran the peer-2-peer download program Azureus/Vuze, which I then removed and replaced with U torrent after reading a few forums about Vuze being a resource hog. U torrent seemed ok but started having the same error after a short while.

I read somewhere that it could be caused by the number of outgoing connection attempts being too high so I increased the amount windows allows from 50 to 150 using a file I found here:

    http://www.speedguide.net/read_articles.php?id=1497

But the pc didn't stop turning off.

By pure luck I worked out that the PC does not switch itself off when I run Pro Evolution Soccer 2010, which requires the CD Drive, at the same time as my p2p. In fact it can sometimes stay downloading without incident for a good 8 hours over night before switching off as long as the game is the active window. Even then, whilst playing if the game is paused for more than 1 minute it turns off.

Here are the main bits I gathered from browsing the event viewer:

    ***1***
Event Type: Error Event Source: Cdrom
Event Category: None Event ID: 11

    Description:
The driver detected a controller error on \Device\CdRom0.

    Data:
    0000: 03 00 68 00 01 00 b8 00 ..h...¸.

    0088: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

That error occurred several times (16 to 24) prior to each time the system turned itself off, always with one instance of the following event somewhere inbetween:

    ***2***
Event Type: Information Event Source: Tcpip
Event Category: None Event ID: 4201

    Description:
    The system detected that network adapter \DEVICE\TCPIP_{C84A584F-A1A4-4B8E-AE53-DAB6A25290B0}
was connected to the network, and has
initiated normal operation over the network adapter.

    Data:
    0000: 00 00 00 00 02 00 50 00 ......P.
    0008: 00 00 00 00 69 10 00 40 ....i..@
    0010: 02 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
    0018: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........
    0020: 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 ........

So I reasoned that the problem was some kind of conflict with the CD Rom. I physically removed it to see if that was the case then noticed these two recurring events:

    ***3***

Event Type: Information Event Source: Service Control Manager
Event Category: None Event ID: 7035

    Description:
The IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service service was successfully
    sent a start control.

    ***4***

Event Type: Information Event Source: Service Control Manager
    Category: None Event ID: 7036

    Description:
The IMAPI CD-Burning COM Service service entered the
    running state.

I thought that service was odd as I had just unplugged the CD Rom so I looked it up and it was just for burning cds using windows, which I never do, so I stopped it but the shut downs continued and actually got worse! Now the computer turns off suddenly without me even running my p2p when I browse the net using Firefox or Internet Explorer, especially if I open multiple tabs or go onto utube. It even cuts out sporadically when left idle during typing a notepad or word file.

Before the last few cutouts I always get these events in this order:

    ***5***
Event Type: Information Event Source: EventLog
Event Category: None Event ID: 6009

    Description:
    Microsoft (R) Windows (R) 5.01. 2600 Service
    Pack 3 Multiprocessor Free.

    ***6***
Event Type: Information Event Source: EventLog
Event Category: None Event ID: 6005

    Description:
The Event log service was started.

    ***7***
Event Type: Warning Event Source: Dhcp
Event Category: None Event ID: 1003

    Description:
Your computer was not able to renew its address from
the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network
    Card with network address 001837073688.
    The following error occurred:
The operation was canceled by the user. . Your computer
will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from
    the network address (DHCP) server.

    Data:
    0000: c7 04 00 00 Ç...

    ***8***

Event Type: Information Event Source: Tcpip
Event Category: None Event ID: 4201

    (SAME AS ***2***)

Prior to looking through the event viewer I have:
-Cleaned my whole case & components & Fan
-Cleaned & re-applied thermal grease to the CPU
    -Tried another power supply (350w)
-Unplugged the graphics card & used the onboard
    -Updated the Graphics card drivers
-NForce mainboard driver update (no better driver found)

    My system:
AMD Athlon 64x2 Dual core processor 4600+
    2.41ghz
    4GB ram
    Nvidia 8600 GT
    Abit NF-M25V Motherboard
    Antec 500W psu
    Windows XP SP3
    Panda IS 2010 anti-virus

The only way I can stay online or use my p2p and be certain of no flaws is in safe mode. As far as I can see the errors started after the last XP update I did. To me it seems like some kind of system resource conflict is being caused by my onboard ethernet controller and that causes the GPU or the CPU to quickly and suddenly overheat. I don't get any errors at all if that is unplugged or disabled, even if utorrent is on.

    Any ideas out there?

    Abruptly have no sense.

Did you think could by a virus?

It happens when you navigate f.e Google, Yahoo etc... or only with uTorrent.

Did you know uTorrent have an option to shutdown the PC when (end a dl..etc..) (but you say abruptly and that haven't sense)
