    Hi Guys,

i've looked everywhere but nowhere seems to have the same problem as i have been having.

I have a fujitsu Siemens D2750 which i bought a couple of years ago...it was cheap and had good an alright spec for just using the internet.... Over the last few weeks i've had problems loading up. It gets to windows vista loading screen (the bit with the bars going across) and then it turns off completely. So i boot up again and it asks me to do a system restore, so i do that and it does the same :(. 6 or 7 more tries and the restore finally starts, turns off again. Turn on the PC, gets to restore, turns off, turn it on, system restore and it works. Took me 45 minutes to turn on tonight, and it works fine.

I havent installed anything other than updates, so in a moment of madness i just deleted everything off my PC other than the major programs i use. I even deleted the latest windows updates. Still nothing. I guess its something to do with system files being corrupt? I've done a chkdsk and it brought up some orphan files, ran it a second time and everything was fine.

Has anyone got any ideas of what i can do. I dont have my Vista recovery disk but i have borrowed a mates Vista disk to try a repair but it does the whole turning off process.

If anyone can help, i'll be extremely greatful :)

I can't say if this is you problem but someone I knew had a computer that would turn off after a few minutes of use. It turned out that the inside was filled with dust especially the power supply. After he blew everything out, he never had another problem with it.

Yeah i've tried that, it's pretty clean in there. I dont want to admit defeat to this as theres clearly only a problem with the booting of windows.

Can you access Safe Mode as Admin, create a new User then login in Normal Mode with it?

If the computer turns off after you turn it on, I suspect a heat issue.

    Trying cleaning out the dust.
I have never been comfortable taking a notebook apart so I've never followed this advice. I do use canned air to blow out what I can from the vents. I also have my notebook and netbook sitting on a passive cooling pad. (Passive means there are no moving parts because it doesn't use a USB port to power up fans).

Borrow a notebook cooler from a friend if you can and see if the computer stays up; if so, heat is the culprit.
