Hi all, just want to start off by saying this is my first post here. I have been a member for some time and a lurker for a long time before that. I have enjoyed reading all of the threads and have ganined valuable knowledge. Thanks to all who willing share their knowledge and experience.

Now, on to my problem. Last night my PC was working just fine. My wife shut it off and this morning I could not get it started. When I turned it on the HDD light came on and then fhe floppy drive light came on and stayed on. There was no display on the monitor. I re-booted and got the same results, so I put a floppy in the dirve and it appeared to be reading it but nothing on the monitor. I re-booted again and this time went in the BIOS set up (DEL key while booting). The lights went off but still no display to guide me further. It sounds to me like a mobo problem since I don't even get a display when in BIOS setup.

    I have n AMD 2500, 512 ram, FIC mobo.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi man
Does the machine POST, by that do you get a single beep to let you know the machine has passed the Power on self test?

What kind of video are you using?
Is the monitor actually working,...light on? fuzzy green display?
Have you checked all the cables are seated correctly between your monitor and tower?
Could be a problem booting because of a bad floppy if the light is staying on try disconnecting the Floppy drive..

    General,

Thanks for the reply. I am using a Nvidia AGP card (not sure of the make/model). No, I do not get a beep but I have one of those funky little speakers and I am not sure I can hear it when the system does come up..*G*. I have checked all of the cables, I even re-seated all the cards/cables inside. The monitor, when first turned on displays a message'No signal input', it then goes dark as part of its power save function. I tried turning it off during the boot up process and I get that same message and then back to black.

Without being able to get into the BIOS setup I can't turn off the 'seek floppy' line so when I just diconnect the floppy it halts with no display.

General, some more information. I took the cover off so I could hear the speaker when I turned it on. When I first turn it on I get one really long beep(it might be several long ones, can't really tell). Then it is quiet for a couple of seconds and then I get one short beep.

    General and all others,

Problem solved. It was my video card. I replaced it with an old one and everything came up. Guess that is what I get for buying a cheap AGP card.

Thanks for your help, it was greatly appreciated.
